Didn’t hang with anyone last night, just flew solo. No calls from Wendy, Liz or the hippies… walkabout was fun, regardless. Chicken Little was cute, but not worth a matinĂ©e… more of a Netflix rental.

saw Sasha yesterday for a little dinner and catcup conversation. I let her know about Magda’s return on November 25th, and the new condo — she told me about Gil, Sonya and Steve quitting the club… not to mention Susie and M getting the boot. Chris was promoted to manager on Sunday / Mondays, plus Melissa and Longhair still bartend and serve respectively. I could quite easily fall back into being the club’s Sunday “Norm!”, now that the bald IKON boneheads have bailed on the place. Tougher to get there from Deerfield, but worth it, I think.
Bro came by to pick up his guitar and amp… I told him to pick up the rest of his stuff before 12/1, because I’d be moving. He just told me to leave it at the Momster’s. I told him he’d have to work that out himself, and we argued a bit. I think a month’s notice to find a place for his stuff after being storage over and above 2 years is more than reasonable.
Note, he only calls when he wants something, and then it’s practically hourly voicemails.
I don’t think that I’ll pass my mailing address on to him, just let him know I’m in Deerfield.
Saw Chicken Little (any excuse for a/c instead of the muggy apt… semi-blah, but had quite a few fun moments. Not as good as Wallace & Gromit, but fared better than Robots. (Plus, Joan Cusack voice, who I adore.)
crescent moon is out with a single bright star right now… cool breezes and sunset reminds me why I dig Florida.

7794 – Friday! At Last!
Weekend plans? None, really. Relaxing, I hope. I may actually have the whole weekend off from call, if the stars are right.
HBO is actively poisoning the BitTorrent downloads of the new show Rome.
I’m glad they mention PeerGuardian. (Hint, add all lists provided.)
The first time I’ve looked at the lj portal page in a bout a year.. they’ve cleaned it up a little bit, but I don’t see any non-cosmetic differences.

7790 – Webster Lake is not where they drowned Emmanuel Lewis.
eryx reminded me (indirectly) of another great crazy-long word, weezle & the dBfly inspired me to record the instructional mp3.
Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg is an unofficial name of Lake Chaubunagungamaug east of Webster, Massachusetts. The Nipmucks and other tribes gave it a variety of similar names. Most people call it Webster Lake, because they can’t pronounce the Nipmuck name, but others, including many residents of Webster, take pride in reeling off the Nipmuck version.
It’s pronounced like this:
Char-gogg-a-gogg-man-chaugg-a-gogg-chau-bun-a-gun-ga-maugg (mp3 of me saying it slowly.)

Newt is *six* years old today! He’s still a little babyhead to me. Here’s to my favorite red-fuzzed libran quadruped. Video of Newt a few days ago
Here are some baby pictures… it still seems like it was only yesterday.

I think he’ll get the same gift as last year.. a big cardboard box filled with paper wads and milk rings.
Happy Ramadan!
Blackmail Boxes. -I wonder how much trouble he could get into for defacing government property?
I’ve had the Beatles (sort of a medley alternating) stuck in my head all morning. CCR is a good blotter, but it’s still playing in the background.
Long as I remember the rain been comin’ down.
Clouds of myst’ry pourin’ confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages, tryin’ to find the sun;
And I wonder, still I wonder, who’ll stop the rain.
I went down Virginia, seekin’ shelter from the storm.
Caught up in the fable, I watched the tower grow.
Five year plans and new deals, wrapped in golden chains.
And I wonder, still I wonder who’ll stop the rain.
Heard the singers playin’, how we cheered for more.
The crowd had rushed together, tryin’ to keep warm.
Still the rain kept pourin’, fallin’ on my ears.
And I wonder, still I wonder who’ll stop the rain.

I heard the sound of water dripping on tile, looked down, and noticed my foot was bleeding. A tiny puddle of red had formed, before I staunched the flow with a paper towel. I have no idea what I cut myself on, but I didn’t even feel it.
Going out to lunch with Jenjen this afternoon. Hopefully, it’ll be funfun!
I wonder what GrayPumpkin is up to these days… hopefully he’s just busy. Oct-Dec can be quite a time for him and Katt, visitor-wise and so on.

Icon o’ the day – Rainbow Raider!
“We’re gonna find our father, but between everything here and there, we’re going to kill everything bad.”
I heard that quote played in the background while I was reading stuff online. The show was Supernatural but I thought about how keen it would be if these two were just delusional murderers raised by some psycho who got trotted off to jail. I flashed to the “monster hunters” are killing innocent people who were impeding there progress in recovering their father from some institution…. the show, instead of being another “Project Bluebook/X-files/Chill Game” type gig could instead be the insane POV of a pair of guys sublimating homicidal activities with some severe schizo hallucinations. Two guys traveling around leaving a trail of bodies in their wake, blaming invisible “monsters” nobody’s ever seen. The FBI is going to take ’em down, and soon.
That said, I actually kind of like Supernatural for what it actually is… yet another bogey-hunter show.
National Geographic has a live webcam pointed at an African watering hole. “Embark on a quiet adventure and watch wildlife gather at Pete’s Pond. Baby baboons scurry in the dust. Wildebeests push and shove to make room at the watering hole. Warthogs wallow in the mud. Catch these moments and more in these video clips.” See Also – Baby Panda cam! and of course, NewtCam.

- blowing bubbles:
I’ve always really liked soap bubbles. They’re perfectly round… defy gravity, have a slick of color all over them… and I dig how they fade to gray right before bursting. - cryptozoology:
Yeti. Bigfoot. Nessie. Chupacabra. a 15-year old LJer that doesnt use words like n00b. all are fascinating, and I’d like to think that the beasties exist. - folklore:
You can learn a lot about a culture by reading what it believes… old fairy tales and folk beliefs often impress me by how far on the mark they can be as how far off. - herbs:
Sage & mint… something that anyone can grow at home to add a little something to cooking or folkways/ hedge-witchery (see above) I don’t grow all of my own food, but there’s a pleasure in putting something I did raise into what is prepared. - journaling:
Records of the past again… my own this time, and I like reading those of many other folks, too. The best reason is so I can look back and see where people were before.. and watch them grow. - music:
Pretty straightforward. I like music, just about all kinds. Solid melodies, and the sort that can move you (to cry or laugh.. or remember) the best. - petroglyphs:
I like caves, and prehistoric/primative man. This is sort of a natural result of the two. I’d love to own land that had caves on it, where I could go and relax. - science:
aquiring knowledge and buildng on it can be a delight. science is a great tool. - thunderstorms:
they bring me peace. good nap weather, lightshows, wate ron glass combine to a favored mood. - westerns:
Distinctly american, and overly romanticised at times, something that happeend only 120 years ago or so seems another planet away. Classic movies, novels, etc… some of my favorite mixes of black & white vs gray areas. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is still one of my favorite movies of all time, and Riders of the Purple Sage one of my fave books.

At the bus stop, I saw
She was wearing her signature spex, a wide brimmed hat, purple t-shirt with earths.
I’d have stopped to say hello, but I was careening in the other direction to get to the #1.
7340 – Sakes. Why isn’t this more widely publicised yet?

Ah, choco chippie cookies arrived yesterday in a box the size of New Zealand. (FedEx large!) Newton also liked the brown-paper padding to protect on the edges of the Tupperware container. They are delicious, and only a little settling occurred in shipping. (a choco chip cookie tastes just as good when broken in half, anyhow!)
Thank you so very, very much, weezle! You’re a very kind friend, and I appreciate your delightful efforts! Maybe that “trade of goods” could work out after all! đŸ˜‰
Very Brief Moment of Lyric (mp3) – will expire in 7 days or so. Thanks, edenette!

Nice time in 2nd life… touring is a hoot with a sweet conversationalist. I need to learn a little notecard scripting for the orb, and it’ll be even better. Related – Wells Fargo Buys ‘Second Life’ Island
7335 – Humpday, already?
Well, new work recruits Liz and Sara both seem quite nice. I feel a bit like a Hippie/Thug Bosley from Charlie’s Angels going out to lunch with RS, LM and VS. Me and three cute Mid-20-something gals is fun.
I got a note from Fedex that they’ll try and deliver again tomorrow… I suspect it’s my goodies from the weezle!
Newton has taken to thieving my red string. I should get him one to wear as a collar. I think he likes the little green circular bead enmeshed in the middle… or maybe it reminds him of milk rings we play with. Or maybe he’s a cat and that twine is his natural prey. (He never really messes with my sandalwood prayer-beads I got from Sedef a few years back, though they’re twine-y in places, too.
2nd life has been quite the thing lately, an odd mix of nice folks… or is that nice mix of odd folks? HP and Qdot are cool, nice folks to hang and gab with… I’ve also discovered some things to be leery of, like “adult-oriented furries“. (wiki entry, pretty safe for work, I think)
I’ve got a few avatars now, but the one I usually wear looks mostly Scotto-like, but I’ve also got a Newt-looking one, and a Dalek that’s pretty keen.
I’ve found that an old Hawkman Lapel pin makes a much better TV antenna than I thought.
I’m really fascinated by apriljoy’s video posts. Very interesting to see a face, a voice and body language with the monologue. I’m debating a video-journal entry or two using the palm-cam. (each of her entries are from 2-3 minutes long.. good little blurbs of life. Her voice and mannerisms reminds me a bit of sedef.
I test-uploaded a video at my section… about a year ago, I caught some Newton footage. Not sure why it didn’t snag the sound. Here it is in quicktime, with sound active.

7334 – Nice day for Presents in the mail!
I got a lovely red thread from the Lisa2 It now adorns my palmtop case, which never leaves my side.
“An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but never break.”
I also got a received a groovy postcard from bubbles3563! A lovely shot of a mole sailor on a clipper ship near a curvy lighthouse. Thank you! It now has a revered spot on my fridge.
The walking weather is getting superb. The air is just a little cool in the early morning, prime for walkies, without all the eye-fry of the city of glass/disco ball dawn effect. I’m looking forward to more brisk weather soon.
2 new employees at work… Accounting assistant and A fund-raiser-type. Both seem to be quite friendly, and ready to play. BK has been quite generous to me again lately… good thing, because a number of other folks have been ticking her off, big time.
2nd life continues to impress, as do the people contained therein.
