Lovely day… went to Miami to pick up some bedding supplies before renting out the condo, and then went on the fishing boat with Momster, Wilt, and BHK. After the trip, bhk and I hit flannigans, and went home for an early sleep, because we head to the weezle and boop’s place tomorrow on Sanibel.

highlights were spotting a frigate, discovering kite fishing, and enjoying the ‘hood.

BK was out sick yesterday… so hopefully I’ll see what’s up if she’s in today.

Cruising down the road after the drive-in… driver is bhk, vehicle si the love cube – blue & white honda element.

Freaky keen eyeball graffiti on the wall in coconut grove, as we left miami.. sort of reminds me of barnacles, or space monsters.

‘Spider Girl’ gang held in Chile

Police have arrested two members of one of Chile’s most notorious gangs, known as the Spider Girls. The all-girl gang of teenagers were infamous for climbing up buildings in Santiago to burgle luxury apartments.

In a spate of high-profile robberies in 2005, they made off with thousands of pounds worth of jewelery.

Lurking in the gardens of expensive parts of Santiago, the four girls hurled ropes and hooks up to balcony railings, hauled themselves up and walked through the flat windows. They then walked out of the buildings as if they were visitors.

The gang members were arrested last year but three of them were sent to reform school rather than prison because of their age.

They vowed to change their ways but after being released, one spider girl, Yasna, returned to her old tricks, recruiting a new member,Marcielle.

Despite both being heavily pregnant, they still managed to climb up to the third floor of some flats.

8644 – Eat a Bagel and Go!

Eat a bagel and GO! was our battle cry today, as BHK took charge and we managed to get up and out of the house by 10:30… not a trifling feat, considering our collective penchant for the lounge-about-the-houseisms.

(bhk thinks not, but I think maybe so.) I really dig having a walkabout cohort.

(our other battlecry of choice is “We’re Grown ups, We’re Married, We can do what we want!- that mostly applies to ice cream dinners, however)

We hit vizcaya with great enthusiasm…Quite enjoyed touring the grounds with bhk(more pictures from my last visit in ’03 on the vizcaya tag)

Green Dome, Pelican, red wall, stone boat, grotesques, stone boobies,spanish moss, pictures of a stalker european, sneaking into a secret door, quinteanos, swimming pools, fountains and foo dogs

highlights of the day were seeing a manatee in the wild by the stone boat, and holding hands with my beloved on the bench by the east gardens.

After vizcaya, we toured around and ultimately went to the swap-shop drive-in to see flushed away… very cute, but I think that I enjoyed the novelty of the drive-in even more than the movie. Very easy to sneak drinks and smooches in without an usher giving us any grief… we’ll be going back again before sauntering to points north, I suspect.

I was pretty impressed by flushed away… they kept the look and feel of aardman, despite it being all cgi rather than claymation. cute moments and lots of fun bits, though I think that the setup for a sequel was a bit over-telegraphed.

Yesterday, I saw a goggle-wearing dog, and some fish.

At the traffic ticket fixer (read: ambulance chaser) law office on Oakland park blvd.

Putting in my notice at work today. Time to move on… Greener pastures await. They now have folks I can train to take care of business, so no guilt here. I’ll be interested in seeing what the response will be, as they fairly thought I’d stay until removed with a crowbar.

Two weeks from now, I’ll be en route to Maryland, and the condo will be a seasonal rental, and we can vacation there off-season. Bro has no idea I’m leaving the state, as I’ve not really heard from him in a few months.

At swensens, the wait staff asked me to help them with a power issue after we got our ice cream digested.. turned out the circuit breaker was flicked over, but we got ’em up and running in no time. They were very thankful and cut the cost of our meal. still a bit miffed over the lack of spanish peanuts or proper wafers. I think that we might try another swensens later, as one of our waitresses (we had two… it was a slow night in there, and they just traded off) confided in us that there were some items that they had on the menu that never ever got ordered – Wafers and whole peanuts amongst ’em.

Purse-lipped Canadian Pencil Sharpener’s name is now “Bruce Moose” He is Guardian of the “Love Cube” (the Element)

His voice is pretty dang poncy, but we love him, and he loves us. I may get him to do a voice post for us later on down the line. His South Park-esque eyes and tuque, snazzy orange fur, maple-leaf tattoo and love of pencils where the sun doesn’t necessarily shine has endeared him to us, as well as his super duper cheery outlook and personality… like the uncle Arthur we never had.

cox and combes excitedly praise the most badass of all people who have ever existed. some lyrics may not be safe for work.

the last one is a helicopter that flew overhead while the shutter was open for a night photo. sort of neat. Other oddity was the weird ‘leet-speak’ meter room. trying to be elite, or was the author just really dyslexic?

Is it only Tuesday? It seems like it should be at least Wednesday, by the feeling in my gut.

I’ve got to remember to vote today… Governor race isn’t very promising, but other items need coverage.

Bhk made a yummy broccoli and sunflower seed pizza for dinner, but I really didn’t have a huge appetite last night. Ah, well, just means a tasty lunch today!

Registered letter came in the mail yesterday… I’m curious to see if it’s something for me, or more for my bro. I seriously suspect it’s bro, and a billing issue. (another side effect of him having no forwarding address, and my living in the same building a while back)

A little poetry I’ve been composing for a week now:

I’m a doodiehead. I wet the bed. I love baboons so my butt is red.

That was in my lj client this morning. Hmmm… Was it Newt, or Bhk? Neither are owning up to it.

Dindin at the momsters went pretty well, but at about 8:30, I just totally ran out of energy and we bid the folks adieu. Hit the sack after doing some last minute chores… I hardly remember ’em, as I was a zombie.

I want to write something else, but I’m drawing a little bit of a blank. I’m having a wonderful home life lately, and look forward to it continuing for many a moon to come, even if I suffer from a little lj vandalism from cohabitants from time to time. I still have to post some more doodles and piccies. Walkabout or just more outdoor time this weekend!

Only two more work periods until the weekend. I know I just got back, but I can use more uninterrupted quality time with my most immediate family. we’re taking the momster out to dinner for her 59th b’day, and then coming home to catch up with ugly betty, gilmore, torchwood, house and heroes.

Newt’s really warmed to to BHK…. he was less than delighted at first, but is all about the headbutts and snuggling, now.

Say! Speaking of the UK, My keyword auto-downloader picked up episodes one and two of torchwood! Does that mean I’ll be getting dr who episodes soon? That’ll make up for the ended season of Venture Brothers.

Got to thinking about my old superhero concept for Stigmata yesterday… then Billy Crystal / Bruno Kirby with blackhellkat… Which invited the Burger King / Burger Christ comparison via initials.

Burger Christ. What a great, blasphemous name for a fast food joint.

Many terrible biblical puns came up for foodstuffs afterward.

“The Flood” – Jumbo Drink, served with a toy ark for the kiddies.
“Pound of Flesh” burger
Gadzooks – french fries shaped like nails. (ketchup or graypumpkin‘s sacred dipping sauce on the side)
Garden of eden apple/walnut salad – you can only order it once, then you’re barred from the restaurant. bhk added the idea of a snakey crouton.

The others aren’t leaping immediately to mind.. oh! “Lot’s Wife” Salt shakers and Noah’s Animal Crackers (comes in pairs)

Just terrible.

It seems I’m not the first to think of Burger Christ.

Watched Open Season yesterday, as it got a trifle too hot at Viva Broward. (I did get my Arepa, so the journey was worth it.) The movie was *a lot* more funny than I’d thought a vehicle featuring the voices of Ashton Kutchner and Martin Lawrence could be.

Walkabout pics from yesterday. Mostly construction and the Mexican place at riverwalk. (Compare Saturday’s walkies pic with Sunday’s… pretty dang similar.)

Our tree’s face lost an eye. I like him better as a cyclops.

Sneaky guy in sunglasses found his way into my wacky statuary picture. I like it better with a friendly wave. He offered to take my picture with stuff, but I politely declined – he seemed a little off-kilter, and I didn’t want him to break or steal my camera. When he walked away, he yelled over his shoulder “We’re the people our parents warned us about!”.
