7361 – lots behind the cuts

Bro calls me up and gives me some BS about “just having seen Andy on the street” and wasn’t hanging out with him.. after I called him up, and Andy answers bro’s cell for him. Man… how stupid does he think I am? He says that he met Andy in the Starbucks, even though I saw them ride up together and both bikes locked together with the same chain. He’s a bad liar, and changes his story when called on it.

He brings me fatigue. I’m looking forward to the weekend.

I was right about my yearly cold. Throat’s sore, chest stuffy, throat glands a little swollen, voice gravelly. I’m glad I didn’t go out last night, or I would surely have blamed it on how I am now… not to mention that I’d probably have infected the whole poorhouse.

Kidz Bop doing “Since U Been Gone”. (quicktime) I think it’s because Gators, Tigers and Walruses make excellent backup. Cheering little kids missing their front teeth are cool too. I’m a big retard, apparently. I’d better keep my eyes peeled for Bad Bob. (Thanks, Lance!)

That cheers me up a lot after all that prior poop.

Regressive Imagery Analysis

7358 – Why is the opening of men’s pants called a “fly”?

One root of the word “fly” (meaning “to soar through the air”) also implies “flapping.” Several sites revealed that tent flaps, which cover the tent’s fasteners, much like on your 501s, lent their name to fly-front pants. The first documented use of “fly” meaning “tent flap” was in 1810.

Europeans started getting into pants, as we know them, in the 16th century. Fly-front trousers were invented around 1650, although the flap didn’t gain its flighty name till later. This center-front opening was considered a little risqué, and pants closures changed between a fly and a fall-front style for the next century or two.

In 1844, a book about military clothing made the first recorded use of “fly” to mean “pants opening.”

7357 –

Saw brother yesterday. He was hanging out with Andy. Dumbasses, the both of ’em. This was after they were lurking around my pad waiting for DHL’s COD cell phone to arrive. The idiots took down my wind chimes and tossed ’em in a corner, and they made off with a part for my grill (no doubt to use for cooking at whereever bro is currently camping). Most probably Andy is staying there, too.

I’m REALLY glad that I didn’t loan him my key to wait inside.

Bro’s officially on my list. I’m an inch from ratting him out to his probation officer. I won’t, but he’s really pressing my buttons.

Coughing a bit more this morning, and zonked out early again. Slept from about 7pm to 6am. The Body is certainly trying to burn off something.

Officially turned down by TSIC. Bah. I think that I had a real shot there. At least I got an answer.

7355 – Tuesday

Working a bit on my current story exercise, and I’m sort of stuck. my usual method is to find a scene and spin a circle outwards from there. I keep changing the guts of the seed, though, and that is causing me to restart the process. More than a few times. I need to find a good core and stick with it, and just save the “nifty, but doesn’t fit” ideas for later stuff.

I could really go for some crinkle cut fries and a chocolate milkshake. I woke up looking for that. Odd urge for 6am. I wonder if I’m pregnant. Doubt it. I’m just a glutton, and dig the conflicting sensations of salt and sweet, hot and cold. Plus, it’s bad for me, so it’s automatically more appealing, since I’m a human.

I’m also a little congested this morning… I hope that I’m not catching my annual cold.

Read here for more info. A national ID is a lousy security trade-off, and everyone needs to understand why.

Random Scotto Factoid: I walked to school by myself when I was in the first and second grade.

Monday Morning meeting today… what a way to start the week. I’ve got a lot of paperwork to catch up on. The downside of working with the gov’t. I suspect that it’ll have to wait until next week, unless big boss is out of town.

Hermoso means beautiful in Spanish. Oso means bear in Spanish. Coincidence? yup.

Went to brunch with the Momster and Wilt. Not too shabby, the multi grain bread was the best part of the meal. My first time at the Bimini Boatyard, as I’d heard very mixed reviews on pricing and quality. I’d certainly go back again.

Afterward, I was drained… I slept for about 5 hours. That thumped last nights sleep slightly, but I still snoozed much of the evening away. So much for working on Story Project #1. Another use of being on call.

Aqui, tenga un poco de agua deliciosa del perro caliente!

I wonder how much a canteen full of hot dog water would sell for on eBay? If profitable, maybe even do a vegetarian version, with those morningstar doggies.

I missed Free Comic Book Day again. D’oh. I just wasn’t anywhere near a comic shop.

Movie / TV news:

Looks like Carnivale has been canceled. I guess I can start watching it now on DVD.

I’m still not sold on Charlie & The Chocolate Factory or the Narnia movies yet.

Haven’t watched Who #7 yet, but since I’m on call tonight, I’ve got something to do while under lock and key. I still have to ship off the other eps to graypumpkin… I can slap #7 o the cd, too.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Thank you to all the fine folks that helped to nurture, raise, and otherwise bring children into the world.

Bro called me multiple times while I was out from a pay phone to get his lost cell. He wants it delivered to my apartment, even though I’ve told him time and again that I don’t want anything of his associate with my place, but he ordered it already. He’s probably going to camp out by my mailbox Tuesday morning, looking for it.

Yesterday was pretty nice, all told.

Stats: BP=118/81, iron @ 44, cholesterol highish, at 172, type A positive

Maltese Crosses? The I in “mission” is a candle… I look forward to finding the explanation for this. (it was the exit sign from a church parking lot… folks going to spread the word, no doubt, but when I think of the Mission Field, I think of foreign countries, like the Peace Corps, or whatnot. Then again, Fort Lauderdale can be pretty alien to a missionary mindset.

NO Bro this morning or last night? I wonder where he ended up? I showered last night so that when he was going to come a-knockin’ at my door, I wouldn’ tbe mid-soap. I got worked up into a stressful ball for no good reason. Man, that kid ticks me off.

Local LJer (Joseph Pagano) got arrested on 33 counts of “unlawful sexual acts with certain minors / battery” I guess I’ll be doing a sexual predator alert on him when he gets out… if he gets out.

Warning: If you have a deleted LiveJournal account that’s for years been saying, “This will be deleted in 30 days” and you’ve gotten so used to it never deleting that you assumed we never will ….. we will.

Tomorrow we’ll start actually deleting deleted accounts. Warn any friends of yours that have deleted accounts that you think they might still want. (some people delete to hide their journals I hear…..)

Didn’t do anything for Cinco de Mayo – it was very stormy and wet, plus I had to stay late to get something to the DoJJ. Exporting powerpoints into word is pesky, but doable with a little fiddling.

I’m getting the urge to put a beaded braid in a lock of my hair again. Maybe one of the club girls will help me out with that, since I never seem to see the hippies anymore.
