Odd how nobody’s doing any follow-ups on “no terrorist attacks happened yesterday”.

The fifth Harry Potter book is out! Well, in China, anyway.

If I were J. K. Rowling, I don’t know if I’d be enraged or incredibly amused. The writing is so…absurd…it’s hard to really be offended by the violation. It’s like some pop dada prank.

Goodbye, June. I’m glad yer gone. You’ve been a meanie month to me these last few years. Cut that nonsense out, and I’ll let you come by in another 11 months.

moonflower planted on the south side, near my front door… I think I’ll put up some strings for the vines to climb in a few weeks, and looking forward to the scent.

On the east side, the window by my bed, alyssum and catgrass.

Not sure yet what I’ll put on the north side, by the parking area. after these start to grow, I’ll plant some other nice botanicals near here, too. It was sort of weird, moving in with little areas of earth under each window, with nothing growing there, save for the odd weed. (The weeds are gone, by the way)

hmm… freshly showered, most of my chores are done, and it’s too rainy to go for a walk. time to see what sort of breakfast I can rustle up here… until later, dear journal.

eight legged freaks.

what a jim-dandy title for a giant spider monster movie.

I feel that I may go see MIB2 or the Powerpuff girls movie today. (heck, maybe a double feature, if I get my druthers)

My sweetie has to work today… maybe I can lure her over to yahoo games and play there with her for a bit. 😉

D’oh! that reminds me, I have to plant my moonflower seeds. be back in a bit, dear journal.

People weigh less on a hard surface , no, really.

Man speared in head survives

Worst Cab Ride ever!

coolest mouse ever!

watching the newlywed game on tv… I bet my sweetie and I could clean up on a show like that, and we’re not even hitched!

Well, off to read more of the widow’s son. nighters!

oh!

in two weeks, my writing (along with that of quite a few others) will officially be published in Unknown Armies v2.0., or this weekend, if you’re going to origins.

You can find my name in the credits (page three of the pdf), under Rumor-mongers, first line (fiction writers, for flavor text, not a rule maker, or playtester).

yum!

Einstein’s bagel assortment and veggie/ sun dried tomator-basil cream cheese. $10 for a dozen bagels, and 2 types of cream cheese. Bro took some as is his right, and he’s welcome.

Tut’s tomb and the pet psychic lady on unsolved mysteries… Tut’s curse seems to be explained by the englisment shaving, open wounds, and a bacterial infection. pretty neat. Pet psychic was interesting… they showed a more well-rounded view.. she *is* very attuned to her surroundings, including quite a lot about animal and human psychology / body language.

Newt sleeps atop the fridge at the moment.

Happy 226th birthday, USA! Happy Saint Elizabeth of Portugal Day!

I hope all of us in the States take at least a moment and enjoy themselves today for a bit.

Newtieboy woke me at 6:30 this morn… patty-pat on the nose, to get me to play. I indulged him, of course. He doesn’t like my “cat-fishing” toy, but will chase a strip of canvas that the futon packing contained… go figure. 🙂 I’m happy that he’s still so playful, at nearly three years old… I wonder when he’ll mellow, if at all? He’s got a darker tiger-buddy outside that I’ve been giving some food to… dark brown stripes, and a poofier tail than Newts. It has a collar, but I’v enot gotten close enough to read it, or to see the outdoor-kitty is a he or a she.

soaking the moonflower seeds for 24 hours before planting them… they and the sweet alyssum will be in the soil tomorrow.

they arrested saddam’s stepson in south florida? at a flight school? is that true? egad!

grabbed for a visa violation, and deporting him? my news source on that is dubious…

the ER last night was interesting… two doors over were a pair of customs agents, and two local policemen… did they catch a mule? probably

reminds me of a song…

A stretch of interstate. You are between two cities. It is night, and quiet, and each rural exit proposes the idea of what’s beyond.

On a hot night in late August, less than an hour on the interstate south of Memphis, you take an undistinguished exit onto roads so undistinguished their names are not posted, and drive less than fifteen minutes from the truckers and the travelers, passing maybe a dozen domiciles, before you reach a sunken area off to the right and find yourself in Othar Turner’s backyard. A wooden barn defies gravity by remaining upright. A white horse swishes its tail. Othar‘s mule brays.

Of course, goat songs give way to one of the more refulgent cow songs.

I have the 4th and 5th off from work… I have to call Newtie’s doctor and let him know about our change of address.

Cut the heel and the top of my left foot during walkies… twisted my foot in a funny way… surface scrapes, but they’re going to be tricky heals. Gauze and tape it is, and maybe *gasp* shoes with socks?

Friday might be the day to swing by the bicycle shop.

Reading enthusiasts across the globe have taken to leaving books laying around in public with a web address inside. The idea is that whoever picks up the book may find it a good read, register the book’s current location on the website, then leave it out to begin the cycle anew. A pretty cool idea, if you ask me, and much in the flavor of tracking George Washington – and to think it was all made possible by helium balloon technology, although sadly the romance of the message in a balloon has cynically given way to email indistinguishable from spam.

doing the fuzzy-gut strut.

Newtcam is on, and pointing at his foodies today.

I coughed today, and heard an echo of my father.

I clear my throat in the exact same way. I had no idea until this morning.

Comforting, and sort of disconcerting at the same time. My brother and I have similar voice patterns, but not similar voices. genetic? learned? a little of both, I think.

reread robinson crusoe last night… I never noticed a specific error before… he strips down naked, swims to the ship for supplies, and then puts the supplies in his pockets… what is he, a marsupial?

good deed of the day – gave my all day bus pass to a guy as I got home.. saved him $2.50.

bought cat food, and seeds to plant in the garden area under my south and eastwindows…. sweet alyssum, and moonflowers. I may crossplant some catgrass out there too, for Newt’s friendly visitor.

Well, off to the showers, and a book to read in my NEW bed.gnite, dear journal.

my bed is here, and new cover for the futon mattress.

from dave-

stop dressing me with your eyes – Why walk around naked when you can be fully clothed and appear naked? Designer Alba D’Urbano’s new line of clothing for women is normal enough [if having a photograph of a nude female body printed to scale on your dress is normal]. The effect is striking, if a bit offsetting.

Probably not worksafe. I doubt wearing these is worksafe either.

smarterchild is aol… but he’s still on msn, and they’re releasing the tools this month to build your own bot.

Newtonorange will live again!
