BHK and I both hit the doctor today – augmentin for both of us – me, for my chest and ear issues, BHK for her congestion and infection issues. Hopefully, that will knock out what’s been in BHK’s system since new year’s, and mine in the last week or so.
Making the most of our holiday gift cards – breakfast at starbucks courtesy of Dave & Cathy – the chocolate-chip banana bread is *very* good.
After that, we hit safeway to pick up our meds… and gamestop for a used copy of boom blox bash party (the other game we got – octomania was horrible beyond keeping.)

BHK made me a wonderful breakfast of veggie omelets and English muffin – nice dose of protein to begin the day solidly.
Bad news technology-wise… BHK’s laptop seems to have taken a nap from which it won’t awake. I suspect the internal power supply. Looking into cracking it open soon, if the alternate cable doesn’t fix her up.
Shadow of the Vampire this evening, while we strip the tree of it’s ornaments and lights – rather a counterpoint too last year’s Kolchak festival while putting on the goodies.
Started watching sanctuary tonight, but the allure of Big Kahuna took it over. We’ve made it to 94 of 99 levels complete, and all but one tropical fish unlocked.

I like that I live somewhere that still uses horse-drawn carriages alongside the jets.
BHK and I finally viewed Watchmen last night – not bad.. I actually think I prefer the revised ending, though the characters itself needed a lot of explanation to BHK. I give it a 6/10… Better than it might’ve been.
BHK still has her cold – looks like it’s moving down from her sinus to her chest now – hopefully, it means she’s getting better.
Got Heron: Steam Machine for the Wii – or “Yet another pipes game” – it’s a lot of fun, and stress levels are high, especially in multiplayer.
Off to the grocery – going to get some filling for tonight’s quiche feast!

Random thought in my head lately – I really like grappling hooks. One of my fave gadget / tools in video games, RPGs or even just in general. Swung by hand or fired from a gun, it doesn’t matter.

carnival games – summer sports paradise island Cute, but not great. I’d say that carnival games is worth a quick rental from the library, but summer sports was hardly worth the loading into the wii.
We surfed the machine’s wiiware collection and dropped $10 on bonsai barber – much fun and superior to both the others.
Back’s doing a little bit better – but sciatica is pretty rough.
Catching up with Apache, Old issues of Giffen’s Dr. Fate, and books made of paper. (focusing on history, tech, sci-fi, and silliness)

Valentine’s Day! BHK got peanut butter chocolates and a couple of cards from me… I got a wonderful couple of cards, a dragon kite with a wingspan is as wide as I am tall, [edit- added a spiffy sea monster video game for the wii] and some very spiffy coupons.
BHK and I curled up on the couch and played a little lego indiana jones on the wii (checked out form the library), but then the in-laws rang us up – No time for love, Dr. Jones!
We went with the in-laws to get a spot of lunch at Clarke’s Landing (Great view, and the best seafood place we’ve been to – plus, it was free – Valentine’s gift from the in-laws) and then onward to Leonardtown (home of ol’ Witches Rock ), and visited a local gallery and used bookstore before heading back to headquarters. BHK got a couple of cookbooks, a pair of green cylindrical earrings, black-eyed susan seeds and some Chick-lit. We got Larry a book on Southern Pacific Railroad, and a Lou Reid CD. I just enjoyed roaming aorund with my sweetie, drinking a hot cup of Earl Gray tea and taking in some nifty stenciled graffiti.

When we (in-laws and all) got home, we watched the Nancy Drew Movie (BHK loved it, and I thought it was cute, too.)
Now we’re watching the Lost in Austen miniseries, and I’m about ready for bed. BHK and Larry are already out cold, and Chris is not long to follow.

So, Yelp sells review placement?
"Stoppelman said Yelp doesn’t strong-arm merchants and that the site’s sponsorship program — its main source of revenue — doesn’t offer "pay for play" to advertisers.
Tell that to Tom Mulvihill, owner of Thai Issan restaurant in Cerritos. He received a letter from Yelp last summer informing him that his business had earned a rating of four stars out of five.
Shortly afterward, Mulvihill said he received a call from a Yelp saleswoman urging him to pay a minimum of $150 a month for sponsorship.
"She said sponsorship would allow us to hide the negative reviews and elevate the positive ones," he recalled.
Well, if that’s the case, how can they be considered even remotely valid? I’ve removed links from my site, and am considering what my alternatives are in the review arena.
