7727 – Nice start to the day.
Visited the club just long enough to snag the free buffet and get a nice hug from Sasha She’s now up to date about Magda – I usually update her weekly, but with the weather and my schedule, I haven’t been by the club in forever.
Nice loot bag as a side effect of the fishing tournament fund raiser. I got a backpack, ball cap, a little notepad-binder thingum and assorted pens, odds and end, and a tournament T-shirt. The bag is the best.. just the right size for commute stuff.

Had a nice gab with the weezle… she’s got the google talk up and running smooth as silk. I hope she’s feeling better soon.
Spending a lot of quality time in 2nd life… HP has been quite a delightful hostess and all-around good egg. We toured “burning Life” and a few other very nifty locations.

Google created a special satellite view of New Orleans using imagery taken on Wednesday, August 31st. Search Google Maps for New Orleans to see it (you can then switch between “Map”, “Satellite”, “Hybrid”, and “Katrina”).
I thought that I got my reprieve at 8pm last night, but lost it again at 9pm, when En’s cable went out. So much for walkabout, or checking out that property in Deerfield after all. I’m guessing I’m in for the long haul for the holiday weekend. I’m not going to let it tick me off… just going to accept the situation and move on.
Weezle was trying to negotiate a trade of baked goods for genetic goods, and made me eep. I got to gab with Lisa-Lisa over google talk, and they got it set up without Naser-Guru’s assistance, which is pretty impressive.

7703 – Saturday Morning
Due to Eric’s Comcast internet service sucking yet again, I had to take call last night, and again this morning. So, no movie with Dan though we did have sushi and hang out at my apartment of a few hours. I may get a reprieve today… we’ll see.
We spent most of our time talking about fluff. Lost, Discworld, etc. A little about current events, too, of course. The topic of martial law came up, and I was surprised that we basically agreed that it was a slippery slope.
Working with missing children is especially hard at this time, but we’re doing everything we can. The situation is really too large for any and all agencies in existence to handle… National Center / Clearinghouses are processing quite a lot of information and I fear weakened accuracy and utility due to burnout, overburdens and fatigue.
Even though most of what we handle is telephony and the phones are out in the worst areas, the outlying regions as far as Texas, Georgia and Florida have significant bleed over.

Lisa2, (or Weez & Sedef) sent me a lovely strawberry shortcake glitter night light (red, of course, with strawberry shaped foil bits to spin around). It’s awesome, and matches my blue glitter lava lamp perfectly. Hmm, I guess in proper sense, it would be 2(Lisa)?
It totally made my day, and I was needing a pick-me-up! In the dark, it sends off a very warm glow, compared to the cool light of the blue, too.

I still think Holly Hobbie could totally take Miss Shortcake in a fight, but SS does have a nice scent about her.

Well, his time out wasn’t too long, bro was picked up by the police on a warrant. I hope the morning and afternoon out of jail was worth it to him. Well, he’s now where folks can keep an eye on him. Hopefully the warders will show more responsibility than he has. He’s not listed on the basic arrest record yet.
Visit with Danny was cut cruelly short… I had to return home to help get the network in order and to take call for a bit. We had time for a drink and some dinner, but no pirate-ship battles. Mushroom pizza, Greek salads, he had a Manhattan, I had a rum & coke. Bonus bummer is that it was his last summer day. He’s telling the sci-fi club that Fridays are out, so maybe we can spend time every few Fridays during the school year.
I really would rather not be tethered to the cell phone sometimes. It’s been quite a hassle lately.
But, enough tales of woe. It’s Friday. The Weekend is nearly here. Free buffet at the club. Time to breathe.

VS interrupted my vacation yesterday for about a half hour for input on how to recover a lost document. I missed my bus to my blood appointment, but she was kind enough to haul me over after being a pain in the butt.
The document was never recovered.
Something about the situation that made me think was when I asked her how long would it take her to recreate the doc.. she said she’s just going to do it on Tuesday.
If it could wait, why did she call me on my vacation?
That topic will come up in conversation before morning meeting.
Some chores to do this morning and then I can spend the day with MP. Good incentive to get moving.

Got Season 2, Episode 12 of JLU. Divided We Fall, Lots of good moments – “Begone”, etc. Worst moment, integrating 3-d cgi models into the show… it’s not needed and is pointlessly distracting. The last episode of the season, unless they have a puff piece one-shot for #13. Vimoh got lucky… no cliffhanger after all. 12 episodes rather than last season’s 13?
Spoilers: Nice use of how Brainiac was just a green Lex Luthor, really. Good Psychological Warfare using the Justice Lords. Awesome use of the speed force with Wally. Groovy Proof of purpose at the end, and The change of JLU from being an army in an ivory tower to a more approachable crew. Embassies. Wide open for a JLI season 3. I liked that they fell back on the classic League crew to sew up the end, and Green Arrow’s speech was solid.
