Snow Day! Staying in, avoiding the slippy-slidey foolishness outside if we can help it.

Everything is covered with a light coating of clean, crisp white. I rather like it, though it seems like it’ll all be gone before my birthday.

I finished GASP! finally – a fun read. I’m not sure if I want to put it on bookmooch, send it to a friend, or save it for a future read.

Snow Day! a little nutshelling and some cat pics.

     

Newton and Pye love seeing all the flakes dropping from the sky.

in-laws skidded over for pancake breakfast, and I played a little Left 4 Dead while tiles got shifted.

William and Dylan came by in time for a slice of BHK’s homemade apple pie – I slipped and hit the ground knees first bringing a slice to the neighbor (bruised, but the pie was safe!)

Later, the Nailles and Phil next door came over and we played a little What’s Yours Like (BHK won by a hair)

About 6 inches of snow on the ground now… snowplow is tooling through regularly to keep things clear.

BHK has a new(ish) laptop – Windows 2000 machine, runs well, and quick – now we just have to bring all of the data over to it. (about 6 dvds)

Went to the job fair in Rockville- lots of good potential there… unfortunately, Sean was unable to make it – he’s sick with a bad cold. I really hope that he’s feeling better now, though.

After the fair, we sniffed around town – visited La Madeline and World Market. We picked up a number of goodies for valentines day gifts, and a few bowls and treats for ourselves.

Spending most of the day today, just working, looking for work, or fixing BHK’s laptops. transferred all of the emergency data out of it, but it looks like they’re both fairly shot. We’ll have to invest in a new HD and maybe a new laptop, if things don’t get better. Meanwhile, her machine is backed up, and limping along with a SMART HD error. (That machine is just waiting to poop out)

Out for some “fresh air” as we’ve been cooped up for quite a spell. Visited chnaka – BHK picked up some circular knitting supplies and I got a lovely replacement for my lost glass monkey bead at bag-o-beads.

Then, we did a quick stop at Wal-Mart and got some valentine supplies – chocolate hearts and some buttons to go with BHK’s knits.

Visited Ledo’s (back next door to chnaka again – found out that buy one / get one free calzone night is the same evening as the Wednesday Knitting Circle – While we ate, (and for a bit after) we chatted with Veronica and Bill Frostbutter in the booth next to us. I like to think BHK and I will be much like them (after another 40 years or so have gone by – Veronica is a little Chatty-Cathy like BHK, and Bill is a more quiet, but friendly cohort… not unlike myself.) I think that Veronica and Bill Frostbutter should be our aliases sometime… awesome name.

We got home, and went to take care of little Stormy next door- and we proceeded to lock ourselves out of the house. Thankfully, I had the Naille’s keys on us, so we called the in-laws to let us out, while we played with little Stormy for a bit.

Today, I’m feeling a bit worse for wear – these antibiotics are tearing BHK and my guts up.

Spent the morning looking for work, and as a reward of sorts, BHK gave me her Mütter Museum pen that is shaped like an arm bone. Spent the evening watching the IT crowd, playing Wii Sports Resort with the Nailles and enjoying homemade mac & cheese with a side of veggie hot dogs from the grill!

I dreamt that Pye and Newton were horseshoe crabs, but still had their kitty tails…. somehow they could climb walls with their little hairy crab legs.

Dave sent me this – I don’t know if he drew it, but it cracked me up for about a half hour! (It looks like his style)

I had a terrible nightmare last night. I can’t recall all of the details now, but it involved living at home, my father still being alive and stealing stuff from my room, my mom letting Newton escape the house, having some crazy guy with a huge afro performing oral surgery that he learned in prison on my lower gums to synchronize heartbeats, Paul McCartney telling me to forgive people for doing stupid things.

In addition, look out! It’s BHK, and she’s got a giant fork!

BHK and I both hit the doctor today – augmentin for both of us – me, for my chest and ear issues, BHK for her congestion and infection issues. Hopefully, that will knock out what’s been in BHK’s system since new year’s, and mine in the last week or so.

Making the most of our holiday gift cards – breakfast at starbucks courtesy of Dave & Cathy – the chocolate-chip banana bread is *very* good.

After that, we hit safeway to pick up our meds… and gamestop for a used copy of  boom blox bash party (the other game we got – octomania was horrible beyond keeping.)

A break day today we’re both feeling a bit better, and we’re taking advantage of $5 movies… Date with BHK in Annapolis!

The plan was originally to see Avatar  in 3-d after getting a little nibble at the mall – BHK had burgers on the brain, and I’m game for any place that has something more for a veggie-guy than a limp salad and fries… We got a wild hair to eat someplace new  – we eyeballed around a bit, and I saw a place called Sharky’s – we got closer, and it looked a little dive-y, but next door was a wonderful spot we’d never seen before, despite it having been in the same place for 17 years – Giolitti’s! The food is fantastic, and the people there are really friendly;  they support fostering animals too.

I had the vegetarian sandwich with no tomatoes, and olive spread. oh, so yummy. BHK had meatballs and pasta… also delicious..

Giolitti Vegetarian – grilled eggplant, fresh mozzarella, tomato, lettuce and oil & vinegar dressing on sliced tuscan…$6.50

Our timing was off, and I think that’s for the best – we went to see Sherlock Holmes rather than Avatar – It was *much* better than I’d expected.

On the way in, I spotted this splat on the carport roof – looks like the sprinkler had a lot of rust build-up before going off!
