I learned from my Icelandic friend this morning that the “war” in warlock is unrelated to the word “war,” but that it means “pledge” or “oath.”  So a warlock is an oath-lock, or oath-bound.  But also, this old Germanic word, *waera*, which is the source for both, became negative in English, connected to heathenry, while in modern Icelandic, *væra* means “innocent” or “cuddly,” so “cuddle-lock” or, as he put it, “the Snugglebound.”

Happy One Month Anniversary to this story.

Come on Democrats.

The Secretary of Defense was drunk texting plans of a highly classified military operation.

Get on tv. Call it treason.

Demand a criminal investigation. Call for resignations. And when they cover it up, Call for the public to support impeachment.

This is a slam dunk

3 years ago today, Pearl first visited with us as catsitters.

It was a setup! We adopted her less than a week later.

Day 20,504

Getting a fresh dryer tomorrow, as replacing the heating element in the nearly 20 year old one would cost nearly as much as the new one we have picked out including delivery, install and hauling away the old steel carcass.

A sketch of a hooded figure holding a magic wand and gesturing at a hairy humanoid who is being lifted into the air by a spell, along with assorted scattered items.

Other languages have phrases like “rightie tightie, leftie loosie” to remember which way to turn screws/lids/etc , too.

In Spanish, the phrase is: “La derecha oprime, la izquierda libera.” or: “The right oppresses, the left liberates.”

(Now I kind of want to put this on a t shirt)

Quoting a friend on my friendly neighborhood discord-

‘I hate how every trashy or tragic event gets turned into a TV show these days and usually within weeks.  No, I don’t want to watch your hastily cobbled together exploitative “Last Days of Gene Hackman” bullshit.’
