Dictionary Dabble, Carcassonne – New World, and Valley of the Mammoths played.

BHK Did really well – Winning all (She and I tied in Dabble) I think it was the green knit cap I got her for Christmas – Mandy said she looked like toad (a mushroom person) from Super Mario… of course, BHK had to take that and run with it (see above)

Amy is off to NY again – We’ll miss her! BHK and I are going to have lunch in Deale soon with the in-laws. tomorrow, Sean is coming over for some year-end games, too, maybe we can whomp on him and Andrew a bit then!

Random thought in my head lately – I really like grappling hooks. One of my fave gadget / tools in video games, RPGs or even just in general. Swung by hand or fired from a gun, it doesn’t matter.

Backdated – couldn’t post ‘em earlier, because they’re Christmas prezzies. BHK made scarves for Adam, Amy, Mandy and Chris for the holidays – Adam’s is UMD gray and red, Mandy’s is green and tan, Amy’s is purple ribbed, and Chris’s the fuzzy mohair.

It seems that Christmas is in the air in this part of North Beach. BHK and the Nailles… not even thanksgiving! however, I don’t mind the music, especially if we get sugar cookies with red and green sprinkles, while watching Christmas Vacation. The Naille’s already have 5 or more trees up at home… BHK and I aren’t going to do a tree until at least after Turkey Day.
Dinner was with the in-laws – hot dogs on the grill, baked beans and smokin’ sweet bbq chips.
Jungle Speed yet again. Lion is my lucky animal… no bears there.

Growing my beard out again…. time for the "hunt for red october" look to keep my face protected from the elements that are coming. Oddly, Kathleen took today to do a mr potato head of my current beardo icon… serendipity?

Adam came over to visit last night. and we played a bit of dokopon before he was off to his church group meeting. No sign of andrew… he was going to come over for dinner, but double booked.

BHK and I continued playing a bit after Adam left and got some Papa John’s pizza, because it was too windy, cold and rainy to go out to the grocery store or the chinese place.

Today was mostly spent looking for work, watching tv, and shooting skags in borderlands. I did take a brief launch outside with neighbor Chris to swap his car for a loaner while the window got fixed…. BHK made some amazing ravioli and pink sauce for supper… full after one bowl, with plenty for tomorrow’s lunch and then some.

We finished watching Journeyman – it left on a high note, and I supect that it was cancelled just in time… our dvr is slowly draining of saved shows from 2007.

Mostly just working today – looking for a paying gig, reformatting Chris’s computer, a last ditch effort to reconstruct it. BHK is working on her projects upstairs, too. I have the added benefit of listening to the Craig Ferguson Audiobook – his voice is strangely calm, and I get a vibe of Shrek doing the reading, rather than that puppet guy on the tube.

Tonight, we’re doing quiche and asaragus – perfect for tonight’s meal.

Got our first check form our renters in florida deposited… I guess it’s official, now –we have renters. Just in time, too. It was getting pretty tight there for a moment.

I still can’t get over how it’s dark by 5:30 at night here…. Florida isn’t that far, latitude wise, is it? I suppose it is, given the change in weather, as well as the sunlight.

Making a change in the house – switching off cable television. (well, actually, DirecTV)

We decided a while back that we watch way too much tv… then, when the dvr broke, and DirecTV gave us shoddy customer service, that clinched it. They promised us a new box and instead they wanted to charge us more for a refurbished model than give us our replacement for free, like they said that they would.

Looking at the shows that either BHK or I record, we figured it was a good thing to just cancel our service, and get what we want via netflix or online.

Here’s what we had on the save list to follow and/or catch up on. It may be a bit obvious which I lean towards, and which are BHK’s.

9975 – weekend update

William, Bryce, Dominic, Dalton, (and Donnie , but he was outside, and didn’t come in) came over for a surprise visit and afternoon of Wii gaming. It seems that Bryce and William’s own Wii was broken, and so they figured they’d swing by our place for some goofing around and general fun.

Bryce was the rare talent today – creamed us at Wii bowling and barely lost mario party 8…. not to mention being a surprise champ at Hey, That’s my fish, and Labyrinth.

It was a pleasant, though chaotic visit… the kids were all very well mannered. They all just piled out of the house to go home to dinner.

(Damien wasn’t here tonight, but he did check out haunted.scottobear.com for the Callis Haunted Adventure earlier this week.

In other gaming news, I won mario party 8 and blokus at the Nailles on Friday night — the trophy is ours once more!
