new fabric softener… I usually use snuggle… but I got “fresh rain scent” instead of the regular scent… I really like it. I first noticed it on my sheets, but didn’t think it’d be this distinct on my clothes! It seems to mesh well with the other hippie element… a patchouli daub.

The weather outside is lovely, if a trifle more humid than it was, earlier.

It looks like someone has been at my seeds… it looks like the wrap over the basil has been accosted in some way. I wonder if it’s an animal, or the little girls next door. I had to put them outside, against the house to protect them from Newton… I hope that I made the right decision.

got a line on an information brokering gig, possibly. I think that’d be the bee’s knees… I actively enjoy at finding information on the net and at libraries, and could use the money, too.

welp, off to work. Note to self, pick up scrip on the way home tonight.

Dreamt of falling from a low height… about fifteen or twenty feet, after being struck on the right side by something moving very fast while I was cleaning the gutters of a small house. I remember the jarring of hitting the ground, and my shoulder taking the brunt of it. I wasn’t able to get back up there to finish the job, because the ladder vanished (maybe it disintegrated on impact?) Since I couldn’t finish the job, I hopped in a little tractor and mowed the lawn instead.

Walkies was nice, if uneventful… lots of traffic at the airport… many small jets taking off, going to who knows where. I was reflecting on where they were heading… work? a funeral in another state? a wedding? a new life? I daydreamed about a big number painted on the side of the airplane…telling how many people were happy to be going to where they were headed, how many indifferent, and how many unhappy.

Thermasilk has the niftiest commercials. twig hair running in mazes, the man who throws flaming knives at the woman, Medusa dancing with the flaming gladiator, one is of an ice-princess and balls of light that seem to be faeries, and the redhaired woman with the fire breathing dragon. I’m *really* impressed with the whole series. No dice on a search for the videos online… just the regular stuff… sadly, adcritic.com has been snapped up by another company.

Well, off to water the plants and do last minute prep work before I head out. sayonara, dear journal.

Spam radio. Strangely soothing.

What’s better than reversing the effects of aging with human growth hormones, investing in stocks that will skyrocket, and getting millions of dollars from the Bank of Nigeria? Why, putting it all to music. Spamradio takes all the Internet’s greatest hits and makes beautiful music. Unlike recording outfits, they even parse the sexy ones into their own section, which is good. You know these kids today; the sensational stuff always hits the top of the charts.

nighty night, dear journal.

the crap you find on the internet….

The Roman goddess of Excrement was Caca?

I’d always thought it was Sterculius?

Hey, just a dang minute. Are they saying that chocolate and Coca-Cola are products of plants named for the Roman god of feces?

From Sterculiaceae

“Sterculiaceae, or the Cacao Family, is a chiefly tropical family. The family is not of primary agricultural importance, but there would be no chocolate, cola or cocoa if the family did not exist. Sterculia, the largest genus in Sterculiaceae, is comprised of about 300 species. It derives its name from Sterculius, the Roman god of privies, on account of the smell of the flowers and leaves of certain species. Stercus means “dung” in Latin.”

Yeah, I guess so. Ewwww….

How would you descecrate a feces gods’ temple? Clean it up?

ok, back from the garden store….(at my local Kmart… having a wicked sale.)

here’s a list of what I picked up.

For Newton – catnip and catgrass.

For me – sweet alyssum, dwarf dill, dwarf parsley, sweet basil, cilantro, and oregano

also picked up some other planting needs… a few small pots and soil.

Now, to mix the seeds, and figure how I’ll keep Nosy Newtie out of the stuff. I’ll probably have to barricade it somehow.

Neat..l just realised that I planted as the moon’s waxing.

middle earth poll

ah… awake again. a hot shower and reading did the trick, knocking me out for a couple of hours. I’m just playing in digital paint, making skins for supers, and generally goofing off. I’m going ot head to the garden center pretty soon today to pick up a few seeds and such.

phrase that makes me laugh…. “deep within the bowels” of anything, including the earth.

still not asleep

I don’t know why my brain won’t shut off, or at least slow down.

perhaps a walk is in order. I’ll try hitting the sack again, and if I don’t start snoozing, I’ll go to the beach to watch sunrise.

[update] – It’s raining, and lightning out. I’ll be staying indoors.

Cats in Libraries A searchable map of libraries from around the world that have a cat in residence.

Hee, they mention Bookings…. he lived there when Doug was working there. A staffer eventually took her home to live, though.

Remember the art-o-mat? Now, a poetry publisher that not only puts out an online journal, but also distributes poems via gumball machines. As of now there’s only 7 Gumball Poetry machines worldwide, mostly in the Western US, but they’re ready to make more. Next time you’ve got a quarter jinglin’ in your jeans skip the gum and get some free verse instead. (personally, I prefer more visual arts in a vending machine, but it could be fun… I would prefer happy, or glowy poetry.)

The Nonverbal Dictionary of Gestures, Signs, & Body Language Cues. Items in this Dictionary have been researched by anthropologists, archaeologists, biologists, linguists, psychiatrists, psychologists, semioticians, and others who have studied human communication from a scientific point of view. What exactly does it mean when someone touches their face, licks their lips, or dodges their eyes? You’ll find the answers in this huge compendium.. The most complete collection of body language you’ll ever come across. I could flip through this thing for hours. maybe I’ll synch it to the palm.

hmm… just got done singing a lullabye version of Bodies by Drowning Pool in goo-goo papa-baby talk voice to Newt. He seemed to dig it. I know I did.

My brother is doing quite well today, his new doctor is treating himright, and has him on a good sports medicine doc. I may even look him up, should my back tweak out on me agian anytime soon.

I missed an opportunity to go to the movies with trhe hippies tonight…they left a message at 2ish…I guess I was doing the laundry, and didn’t discover the voicemail until just now. Shoot! I’d have liked to go see a few things that are playing… Ice Age, Death to Smoochy, or even Clockstoppers. Ah well… next time. Spilled milk, I guess. Looks like I’ll resolve to do Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure on VH1, instead.

update- Hey! I didn’t know that Billy the kid was also the actuarial program from Tron!

Four Color Parade

The parade isn’t over yet for all of us “Four Color” Fans. With the monumental success of X-men and Blade in the movie theaters, Hollywood has more movies from the Comic Book/Superhero genre in the works. Doing a little digging at www.upcomingmovies.com has gleaned two-fistfuls of movies (Daredevil – Jan 2003, Xmen2 – May 2003, Hulk – June 03, Catwoman – 2003, Mage – 2004, Batman: Year one – 2004, Watchmen – 2004, Ironman – 2004, Fantastic Four – 2004 or 2005, Superman (the next movie) – 2004 or 2005) either in the works or in the concept stage.

story idea? I always did dig zombies.

The Yellow Pestilence – http://www.geocities.com/Athens/4725/files/welsh.html

“This life tells us that Shortly after Saint Teliavus had received the pastoral care of the Church of Llandaff, on account of a pestilence which nearly destroyed the whole nation he was obliged to leave Wales. It was called the Yellow Pestilence, because it made everyone it attacked yellow and bloodless; it appeared to men in the form of a column consisting of a watery cloud passing over the whole region. Everything living that it touched with its pestilential breath either died straightway or became sick unto death.”

Seemingly this Yellow Pestilence appeared with some frequency; a vaporous cloud that floated gently down the valleys, descending on St David’s and rained down on the populace. All who were touched by the cloud, or who breathed of it, were struck down by the yellow plague, becoming lethargic, sick and finally turning yellow before succumbing to death.

What if there was more to it than that…?

In a time when buboes herald the coming of death across the land, and villages close their boundaries to all outsiders, turn away those travellers trapped between settlements and rain arrows on messengers who may carry the black death between towns, the Yellow Pestilence strikes in the valleys.

The villagers sicken turning bright yellow in hue, and die, only to rise again as the Yellow Pestilence feeds them.

And then clings to them, carried by their dead steps to another village.

And another.

And another.

Maybe actually apply this story to modern times. The plague is unearthed by miners and only by researching old myths can the zombies be stopped. If there’s time.

wakey wakey, corny flakey!

slept solidly last night… got my mojo in gear. Only a few chores to do today…laundry, general cleanup, and maybe a little shopping for some seeds to plant out front. Possibly some diddling with the web server project too.

strong lazybones urge, though… It’ll fall away once I get moving and this ape-cat stops lounging on my right foot, like a striped slipper. (that’s how I’ll decide when to get up….when he does. meantim, I’ll keep a-surfin’ and a-slackin’.

there… he’s up, and so am I.

Laundry, hoooo!

The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization claims to be “the only scientific organization probing the bigfoot/sasquatch mystery.” The site is full of Bigfoot/Sasquatch legends, theories, evidence (or lack thereof), research and projects, and news.

BFRO maintains a dubious, but thorough database of Sasquatch sightings around the world. Bigfoot gets around, that there have even been a few sightings in South Florida!

Here’s a cam cutaway to what my region is looking like.
